The Bin Zayed Group’s key activities comprise five business fields: energy, trading & industry, real estate, technology and financial services. In addition to this, the Sheikh holds pivotal positions in several private and public organisations, with his achievements by no means restricted to the business arena. His personal contributions in various public-serving entities is testimony to his commitment for social well-being. He is a keen participant and member of both the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Arab Business Council (ABC). He is a prominent public speaker and has given extensive presentations and TV & media interviews on: e-commerce, e-government, digital technology, economic policy, and various progressive topics, impacting regional and international economies.

He has been working with the Bin Zayed Group since 2008. He has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to turn around underperforming companies and expand business through strategic thinking, team building, effective troubleshooting, and broad-based operational and financial management. 

Dr.  Shamir’s sensitivity to the struggles of the national marketplace in the aftermath of the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997, and intuition for opportunities to realise value once lost, gave rise to his founding and leadership of a group of companies principally involved in land development and revitalisation initiatives around the Kuala Lumpur metropolitan. Dr. Shamir’s enthusiasm to protect and enhance the sustainable value and growth potential through real-estate development and management has also paved the way for his success in the takeover of Turiya Berhad – a property investment and management corporation listed on the Main Board of the Bursa Malaysia stock exchange since 1984 and gave rise to his appointment as the chairman of the Board of Directors in 2024.

With a determination for responsible value defence in competitive marketplaces, Dr. Shamir founded a group of companies of multidisciplinary focus areas, serving as an autonomous business ecosystem braced to respond and meet the traditional demands and new-age objectives of market players, in synchronicity. Shamir’s command of the overall group, and the resulting interoperability between its entities, gave rise to the emergence of a non-bank provider of Shari’ah-compliant financing solutions, whose promise and success as a pioneer in Malaysia left the group well-positioned to proactively address the anxieties and intimidations faced by Malaysia’s high society as the Covid-19 pandemic unravelled.

Dr. Shamir’s eye for untapped potential serves valuably in his following office as the Executive Chairman of an award-wining boutique corporate advisory firm, known for its contributions to the development of the National Economic Recovery Action Plan in the wake of the Covid-19 health crisis, and its strategy-building and intermediation across a variety of value-creation exercises – for which he is bestowed with the prestige of the McMillan Woods Global Lifetime Achievement Awards, for Extraordinary Leadership, and Visionary Entrepreneurship, amongst other tributes.

In recognition of Dr. Shamir’s achievements in shaping industries and leading synergistic enterprise, he is elected by esteemed members of the royal House of Nahyan, to represent the acclaimed Bin Zayed Group of Companies (United Arab Emirates) in its pursuits and undertaking of diverse business interests in Southeast Asia, as are realised through the endeavours and missions of Bin Zayed (S) Pte. Ltd., Bin Zayed International (M) Berhad, and its various local chapters — across which Shamir serves as Managing & Executive Director.

Apart from his strictly professional endeavours, Dr. Shamir is committed to securing fair symmetries for underserved ‘stakeholders’. From donating medical care equipment, raising awareness for complex treatments, and underwriting the cost of medical treatment burdening adolescents in need, to organising targeted assistance and financial support for flood relief programmes, mobilising food aid response to B40 provinces affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and organising campaigns and sponsorships for aspirant sports-men and -women, Shamir’s personal philanthropy and humanitarianism serves a variety of communities — for which he is accredited as a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation, a holder of the Excellence in Humanitarian Service Award as conferred by Rotary International, and awarded with the esteemed appreciation of the Volunteer Department of the Ministry of Interior (Malaysia) for his involvements in activities for and of RELA, Kuala Lumpur.

Dennis graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Distinction) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and holds multiple certifications for engagements in real estate, insurance, and financial planning, reflecting his comprehensive knowledge base and ability to navigate multidisciplinary business environments.

Dennis’ experience in wealth management, and approach in the exploration of investment opportunities, is distinctively driven by his keen interest and quest for modernity and growth, with portfolio literacy in current business segments, such as fintech, real property, healthcare and other breakthrough-potential domains.

With access to an extensive, high-value personal network that keeps him current and dynamic in his consideration of key levers that factor into organisations’ delivery of unique solutions, Dennis ongoingly demonstrates a client-centric approach in the development of global marketing strategies.

As the Managing Director of Bin Zayed (S) Pte. Ltd., and an Executive Director of its select group companies, Dennis leverages his extensive background to provide strategic insights that drive the group’s optimisation of transactional designs, and its enhancement of client relationships, as contributors to organisational direction and success.

Since beginning his career with a Malaysian merchant bank in 1995, Shahmir’s extensive knowledge in chartered accountancy, Islamic financial theory and applications and corporate finance, bolstered by his acumen and tenacity for serving value creation and wealth management objectives, has brought about the success of noteworthy undertakings across local, regional and emergent markets, as he expertly strategises business turnarounds, full-scale mergers, and complex acquisitions, amongst an array of corporate exercises, for a variety of business sectors.

Shahmir’s expertise lies in managing the affairs of listed companies and financial institutions globally, having helmed various Board roles, C-Suite positions, and senior managerial functions, through which he serves as the primary mediator of various business interests and stakeholders.
